Negril Rotary

People of Action!

Message from the President Ramon Bremmer

October 15, 2021
This Rotary year, our Rotary International President, Shekhar Mehta, encourages us to ‘grow more and do more’ as Rotarians. I am in full agreement as there is now more than ever an increasing need to expand our reach into our community Negril and surrounding environs. We need to create access to much needed basic resources and stir the need for change and growth within each citizen of this community. This pandemic has given us as Rotarians the opportunity to serve to change lives.
The 2021-2022 school year has brought with it new challenges as COVID-19 is still affecting our families. However, as change agents and people of action, no challenge is too big for Rotarians and as such, we are elated about our partnerships with Rick’s Café and Jeff Nistel. Rick’s Café has pledged Fifty Thousand dollars each month to “Get Kids Online”. Also, Jeff donated Five Hundred US dollars to this worthy and needed cause. With these support, we will be improving the lives of children within the Negril community by giving them an opportunity to achieve a sound education.
Our Global Grant with our Rotary partner, the Rotary Club of Calgary North, is in its final stage. We are so proud that we are able to give youths in Negril a place that they can hone their hospitality skills. With the new building and resources, Theodora Skills Training Centre will continue to offer first class training in bartending, cosmetology and information and communications technology. Thus, ensuring that our youths are employable and are able provide for themselves and their families.
The Newly renovated Negril Health Centre has been the buzz around town for many months and this was made possible due to our partnership with the Rotary Clubs of Airdrie, Strasburg, Stuart and Calgary North. An investment in health is extremely important to the survival of our human resources and the positive transformation of our community, Negril.
I challenge all stakeholders in Negril and the world to increase our reach and impact so we can ‘serve to change lives’.
